Why IVIN?

IVIN facilitates affordable volunteer opportunities in Nepal, particularly in remote villages, ensuring cultural immersion and well-organized, safe experiences.

Why pay to volunteer with IVIN?

Volunteering with IVIN ensures well-organized trips, cultural experiences, and meaningful projects without concerns about basic necessities like food and accommodation.

What type of accommodations does IVIN provide?

Accommodations are managed by the IVIN team.

Will there be a guide for Himalayan treks?

Yes, for group treks, a guide and porter are provided which will be included in a package. During volunteering, designated host families guide you in the village.

Do we need to pay extra for guides with IVIN?

Extra charges apply only for treks to destinations other than the designated volunteering site and pre agreed destination. For example, if you volunteer in Namche Bazar for a month and in the end if you wish to Trek to Everest Base Camp then you have to pay extra or you can pre-purchase a package with us.

What happens if I get sick and can't volunteer?

Travel insurance and medical insurance is required. IVIN can extend the project or refund 50% of the volunteer fee with terms and conditions.

What is the minimum age to volunteer with IVIN?

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old(rural areas) or 16 (urban). Or accompany a guidance.

Do I need to speak English to volunteer?

English proficiency is recommended.

Are there nationality restrictions for IVIN volunteers?

No, volunteers from any country are welcome, except those restricted from entry.

What types of volunteer work are available with IVIN?

Projects mostly include teaching in schools, nunneries, and communities, in selected areas and regions of Nepal.

How long can I volunteer with IVIN?

Volunteer durations range from min two weeks to the maximum duration allowed by your visa, typically three months in Nepal. It will also depend upon the requirement of our partner organisations.

What qualities make a good IVIN volunteer?

Open-mindedness, discipline, love for learning, teaching, and good intentions are essential.

Do IVIN programs require specific qualifications?

Qualifications are not mandatory, but expertise is valued. CV review is part of the application process.

How can I prepare for teaching English with IVIN?

Explore the Nepali education system online and enroll in virtual orientations provided by IVIN.

What teaching resources are available with IVIN?

Basic resources are provided by schools and, with additional support from IVIN upon request. Volunteers may bring supplementary materials at their discretion.

Where will I be located during my IVIN volunteer placement?

You'll stay near the project site or ivin facilitated accommodation. Transfer amount will be provided.

Can I change my IVIN volunteer start date?

Start dates can be changed with a week's notice, subject to policy and mutual agreement.

How many hours will I teach at a Monastery with IVIN?

Teaching durations vary, typically 3-4 hours per day, six days a week, depending on the monastery's schedule.

Are there organized trips for IVIN volunteers?

Yes, IVIN organizes city and out-of-valley excursion tours for volunteers. But it is optional and not included in package.

Who arranges visas and flights for IVIN volunteers?

Volunteers are responsible for arranging visas and flights, with IVIN providing supporting documents and managing required permits upon arrival in Nepal. Visa extension will be facilitated.

Can I bring useful items for IVIN?

Teaching materials are highly appreciated by schools. Personal necessities and trekking gear should be brought by volunteers.

Can we volunteer anytime or does it have specific timing?

As we have two options to volunteer; one in the Himalayas and other in the city. Volunteering in the Himalayas has a limited time duration because of major factors like weather and transportation. Refer to calendar.
